Commercial saddle thresholds are one of the most important components of a commercial entrance door. Saddle thresholds are standard on hollow metal doors and aluminum storefront doors and act as a barrier at the bottom of the door to keep out wind draft, debris, and bugs. ADA Compliance
American Choice saddle thresholds are available in 1/2 in or 1/4 in. heights meeting ADA compliance. ADA was passed by law in 1990, and requirements deem that the bottom threshold on ADA door must also be ADA compliant.
UL Listed
American Choice threshold products are UL Listed and are designed to be installed in any commercial building.
Fire Rated
Per NFPA 80 requirements any fire rated door should also be outfitted with fire rated door hardware. This includes the bottom door threshold. All emergency exit doors and stairwell doors are fire rated, as a result the door threshold should be too. American Choice saddle thresholds are UL Certified Fire Rated as a standard, allowing them to be installed on any commercial fire rated hollow metal door. You can check if your door is fire rated by swinging the door open, there will be a fire label near the top hinge. If you install a non fire rated threshold on a fire rated door, you are not only disregarding NFPA 80 requirements as well as International Building Code (IBC), but you are also creating a very unsafe and dangerous door system.
